About PlayStation Plus Premium

Sony’s PlayStation Now has been one of the first cloud gaming platforms on the market. In 2022, they decided to revamp the entire service and rebrand PlayStation Now into PlayStation Plus Premium. It’s basically a merger between Playstation Plus and Playstation Now. Similar to Xbox Gamepass, there are multiple tiers for the subscription model. The first and cheapest tier is PlayStation Plus Essential. It only gives you access to online play, two monthly games, cloud storage and exclusive discounts. The middle tier, called PlayStation Plus Extra, expands on that with a catalogue of games you can install on your PlayStation similar to GamePass. The highest tier, called PlayStation Plus Premium adds even more games to these benefits including cloud game streaming.

PlayStation Plus Premium will be available for € 16.99 per month. It will include classic PS1, PS2 and PS3 games along with major exclusives from the PS4 and PS5 era and plenty of indie games. PlayStation Now is only available on PS4, PS5 and PC.

Future Plans

Recently, Sony has announced that they have more plans to expand their presence in the cloud gaming market. We should see the results of this soon. The first confirmed new feature is support for PlayStation 5 games and being able to stream games you bought. The latter is a feature Microsoft has promised for Xbox Game Pass owners but is yet to deliver on.
